Our prideElgin
The Elgin valley is uncharacteristically surrounded on all four sides by mountains and has some unusual geography, making it ideal to growing high quality wine grapes.
Elgin is South Africa’s coolest wine region with temperatures rarely reaching over 30 C. A lower average temperature over summer and cool early-morning mists makes for gradual ripening which develop more-balanced wines with great depth and complexity of flavour.
Aromatic varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay succeed beautifully in Elgin’s and produce grapes with highly expressive fruit and character but the long ripening season has led winemakers to experiment with a vast array of both red and white varietals.
