Hemel-en-Aarde Vineyards

Our prideHemel-en-Aarde

‘Heaven on earth’ is the English translation of Hemel-en-Aarde.

The valley stretches inland from the coastal town of Hermanus, and consists of three distinctive appellations, divided on the basis of soil type which transcends clay-rich shale to Table Mountain sandstone and decomposed granite.

This is a cool climate region by South African standards. The cold South Atlantic sea breeze blows up the valley creating regular sea mists and overcast conditions. Rainfall is also higher than many other Cape wine regions.

The Hemel-en-Aarde wine area is widely acknowledged as the Pinot Noir capital of South Africa.
